Learning Difficulties

from Susan Winebrenner

About Students With Learning Difficulties

Students who have difficulty learning may or my not have been formally identified as learning disabled.  We prefer to use the term “Learning Difficulties” when using the LD abbreviation.  All the strategies in my book, Teaching Kids With Learning Difficulties in the Regular Classroom, have proved records of effectiveness with many students who have trouble learning, including English Language Learners,  and should be tried with all students for whom learning required standards does not come easily.

Many learning difficulties can be significantly diminished by teaching students to  use appropriate compensation strategies.  My book is  a gold-mine of ways to help any student become a more successful learner .  The strategies will help you to:

bulletsignificantly improve learning outcomes for students who score below proficiency levels
bulletget all students involved in all learning
bulletconsistently communicate high expectations for learning success
bulletdifferentiate instruction to match students’ learning styles and needs
bulletintervene effectively with various learning difficulties
bulletmove beyond traditional assessment and discover what your struggling students are really learning
bulletteach students how to behave appropriately
bullethelp students get organized
bulletget parents involved as part of the learning team
